Physiotherapy

What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy, also known as physical therapy, is a healthcare profession focused on improving, restoring, and maintaining physical movement, function, and well-being. It is tailored to individuals of all ages, helping them recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, and prevent future health issues.
Physiotherapists use a combination of techniques to support recovery and enhance mobility. These may include:
- Manual Therapy:Hands-on techniques like massage or mobilization to relieve pain and stiffness.
- Exercise Programs:Personalized routines designed to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and promote balance.
- Education and Advice:Guidance on posture, lifestyle adjustments, and ergonomics to support long-term well-being.
We offer treatments in many different areas, including general physiotherapy treatment, kinesiology and Sports massage.

What does a physiotherapist do? - and how can we help you?
At its core, physiotherapy is based on the human body and musculoskeletal system. The aim of physiotherapy is to improve your quality of life and your ability to move pain-free without the use of medication and painkillers.
We recommend physiotherapy treatment when you feel your movement is limited due to illness, injury or age, for example.
When you visit our physiotherapy clinic in Nørrebro or Amager, you will always undergo a thorough examination and analysis of your mobility, muscles and joints before we begin the physiotherapy treatment.

Pregnancy physiotherapy
The pregnant body naturally undergoes a sea of changes. Both pain and soreness can occur in connection with various pregnancy disorders. If you experience nuisances of one kind or another, it is important that you get it treated.
We offer the following in connection with pregnancy physiotherapy:
- Consultation with a professional physiotherapist and osteopath
- Localization and treatment of pain and tenderness
- Counseling, coaching and treatment program if you are considering getting pregnant
- Care after pregnancy – i.a. guidance on how to best rehabilitate your body after pregnancy and how to deal with scars due to cesarean section.
If you need a consultation about pregnancy training or postpartum training, we are also happy to help with that.
Postoperative rehabilitation and scar tissue therapy
Sometimes exercise is not enough to restore the full function of the body after an operation. It is necessary to rebuild the strength of the tissue as well as the mobility. Scar tissue is usually active up to 2 years after surgery, and if left untreated, it can cause stiffness and pain not only locally but in the long run in other structures as well.
We are not only talking about scars from orthopedic surgery, but also from the removal of, for example, appendix or caesarean section, which can cause pain in the lower back or in the shoulder area due to the compensations that our body has to make. Manual therapy and scar treatment can help improve this aspect and prevent future problems and pain before it becomes chronic.
Therefore, in our clinic we would like to provide you with service with a focus on training and manual therapy on scar tissue in addition to the postoperative training program. To keep you away from future problems due to surgery.
Best time to book your appointment is about 4 weeks after surgery.
Cupping therapy
Cupping therapy is a very old form of treatment that originates from China. It is used to
cleanse the body of waste products and release muscle tension and stagnation in the connective tissue.
At the clinic we use:
Stationary cupping
The cups are placed on various acupuncture or pain points on the body.
Sliding cupping
The cups are moved either slowly to work with the connective tissue, or faster to relax muscles.
Facts about cupping:
- Stimulates repair processes
- Strengthens the immune system
- Reduces edema and swelling
- Promotes the cleansing of waste products
- Increases blood flow to tissues.
Stress management
Physiotherapy plays a role in stress management by focusing on the body’s physical responses to stress and helping to reduce tension, increase relaxation and improve body awareness. While physiotherapy does not directly address the causes of stress, it can be part of a holistic approach to relieving the physical effects of stress.
Here are some methods we use to treat stress:
- Relaxation techniques: Our treatment can teach you techniques such as deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and mindfulness exercises. These methods can reduce the physical tension that often accompanies stress. This is an easy approach to stress management.
- Movement and exercise: Regular exercise can help release endorphins, which improve mood and reduce stress levels. Our physiotherapists can help guide you in appropriate exercises that can help reduce stress.
- Postural training: Stress can cause muscle tension, especially in the neck and shoulder area. Stress management looks at posture and muscle balance to reduce tension and pain.
- Massage and manual therapy: Gentle massage and manual therapies can help release tension and improve blood circulation, which can reduce stress.
- Biofeedback: Our physiotherapists use biofeedback techniques to help a person become aware of body reactions and learn to control them, which can reduce stress.
- Counseling: Physiotherapists can provide information about the effects of stress on the body, recommend changes in activity levels and provide general advice on stress reduction.
It is important to emphasize that physiotherapy alone cannot eliminate the causes of stress, but it can be part of a broader treatment plan. Combining physiotherapy with other forms of treatment such as mental health therapy, dietary and lifestyle changes can be a more comprehensive approach to managing stress and its effects on the body.
